Mikel Arteta believes Liverpool have “set the bar” for the Premier League after seeing their Arsenal side swept away at Anfield.
The Reds came from behind to win 3-1 on Monday to continue the 100% start in the title defense.
Arsenal beat Jurgen Klopp’s team towards the end of last season and defeated them on penalties at the Community Shield last month.
But Arteta acknowledged that Liverpool is still England’s standard bearer and explained what sets them apart.
“We are on a different journey than theirs,” said the Arsenal manager. “They have been together for five years.
“They couldn’t do what they did tonight two or three years ago, that’s for sure.
“They have done a great job. They have a lot of faith in the way they play, they have had a great recruitment and they have improved the players they have.

“This is what we have to try to do. They have set the bar, probably the best standard we have seen in many years. We still have a long way to go.”
After Alexandre Lacazette gave Arsenal the lead against running the game, Liverpool responded with first-half goals from Sadio Mane and Andy Robertson before substitute Diogo Jota made play safe at the end.

And Arteta was left to regret an opportunity in the second half when Alisson Becker denied Lacazette when he was clean.
“Obviously, it’s a very difficult place to come,” he said. “They are a really good team. We stayed in the game most of the game.
“Having the advantage, I think we should have handled it a little better, we conceded too early. We competed throughout the game knowing we would have a tough time at Anfield, but believing that we could get something out of the game.
“When we had clear chances to make it 2-2, we didn’t score. If you want something from here, you must take a chance. “
