Frank Lampard says a loan could be a good option for Ruben Loftus-Cheek
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard knows that Ruben Loftus-Cheek needs to play games this season, whether on loan or on his team.
The 24-year-old has struggled to recover from an Achilles tendon injury, with a return to normal action and then delayed by the closure of the coronavirus.
Aston Villa and Southampton have been linked to a loan from the midfielder, who has 10 appearances for England.
Lampard maintains that Loftus-Cheek is highly regarded at Chelsea, but is in a difficult position in terms of current opportunities.

“I’m very open with Ruben. We’ve had a couple of conversations in the last week. He’s fiddle-fit so he can play week after week, but he needs to play,” Lampard said.
“He’s worked a lot now and would have been playing a lot of games before if it wasn’t for the project crash and restart.
“There is a possibility that Rubén will leave [on loan] to play because I think it would be great for him.

“We hold him in very high regard here, I certainly do, and that might be a good fit for him.”
“But if it is not the right choice, it will also be competitive in this team because of the qualities it has and hopefully it will be a great advantage for us, so I am relaxed about it.

Tottenham interested in Rudiger
Antonio Rudiger has yet to appear at Chelsea this season
Tottenham are interested in signing Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger.
The German international has been considering his future at Stamford Bridge after falling through the pecking order among the club’s center-backs.
Following Chelsea’s acquisition of Thiago Silva from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, Rudiger has not appeared in the first three games of the Premier League season.
Frank Lampard has favored players like Kurt Zouma, Andreas Christensen, Fikayo Tomori, along with Silva, but Chelsea have struggled defensively, allowing six goals in their first three games.
The 27-year-old is believed to consider a loan transfer for more playing time before the European Championship next summer, but it is unlikely that Chelsea will allow any of their players to join Premier League rivals in temporary agreements.
