Police show up at a girl’s 10th birthday party after neighbors snooped informing the family

Two police officers showed up at a 10-year-old girl’s birthday party after a neighbor denounced the family for breaking Scotland’s strict Covid rules.

Mom Leanne Macdonald claims that relatives had been “coming” into her home to deliver the gifts to little Myla.

She said she “couldn’t believe it” when two uniformed officers later entered her home and warned her that she was “on alert” and that she would be fined and charged if she broke the rules again.

Leanne told the Daily Record: “I couldn’t believe it. They came to the door and told me that I had been reported for having people in my house.

“I was surprised. The funny thing is that they actually came to my house to tell me that my house was ‘on alert’ and that if I broke the rules again, I would be fined and charged.

“So the police can enter my house, but my family can’t?”

Ayrshire’s 36-year-old mother is now on the police’s Covid “watch list” after celebrating Myla’s birthday yesterday at her home in Irvine with her partner Gary, 37, and the couple’s youngest daughter. , Rylee, two.

Leanne says her parents, grandparents, and aunt and uncle “showed up” separately just to briefly deliver gifts for Myla.

But the mother-of-two says the celebrations were ruined when the officer appeared saying that an anonymous neighbor had reported her for violating Nicola Sturgeon’s Covid-19 rules.

Leanne says she missed the most recent restriction update due to “a lot going on” in her personal life and assumed she was still allowed one home at a time indoors.

Myla and her sister Rylee were just trying to celebrate their big day

She said, “Honestly, I didn’t know the rules had changed. I missed all of that. We weren’t planning on having people or anything like that.

“My grandparents came for 15 minutes with a gift for her and then they left.

“After they left, my aunt and uncle came to leave a gift.

“My aunt ushered her in to see Myla quickly, but my uncle basically stayed outside and a little bit later my mom and dad came and my mom came in to see Myla’s balloons and that was it.

“The next thing I knew, the police were at the door saying that someone had reported me for having six adults and six children in my house at the same time, which did not happen at all.”

And the strict rules made it a birthday to forget

Leanne said she is sincerely sorry for the mishap and says it has left her “freaked out” by another accidental breach.

She said: “I’m sorry I broke the rules, it wasn’t our intention.

“They weren’t all in and they weren’t all here at the same time and we all kept a social distance.

“But to be honest, the rules are so confusing and they keep changing, it’s hard to keep up.

“It feels like we are totally losing all of our freedoms to this virus and it feels a bit like they are making it up on the fly.

“I am scared now in case it happens again and they prosecute me. There are people who really commit serious crimes and there are not enough police to take care of it, but if I have my mother again, they will accuse me.”

“I could have booked a restaurant with my parents for Myla’s birthday and sat at a table for a couple of hours with them, and that would be legal. But they come over to my house for 15 minutes to wish their grandson a happy birthday and I have the police at my door, it’s pretty amazing.

“But I know we broke the rules and I’m sorry, but I really thought we could still get into another house.”
