A wedding party organizer has been fined £ 10,000 for violating the coronavirus rules in Manchester.
Police received reports of a large gathering at a wedding party at a licensed venue in the Longsight area of the city. earlier this week, and I arrived to find about 70 people present.
Officers said the guests initially refused to leave the Manchester event venue.

Superintendent Chris Hill said: “This blatant disregard for public health is totally unacceptable and meant that we had no choice but to issue the maximum penalty for violating the large gathering legislation.”
An authorized closure notice has been issued by Greater Manchester Police, Manchester City Council and other authorities with immediate effect, meaning the facility must remain closed for at least one week, subject to review.
Superintendent Hill said: “I hope this sends a clear message to both individuals and authorized facilities that there is zero tolerance for organizing these types of events without permission from local authorities, and we will respond as necessary to reports of such incidents.
“This is a difficult time for all of us, but we need to ensure that we are working together to reduce the risk posed by the spread of COVID-19 and while we thank the majority for continuing to do so, we will continue to enforce legislation where necessary against the minority that is not. “

Councilor Rabnawaz Akbar, Manchester City Council Executive Member, said: “In this case, it was clear that immediate enforcement action had to be taken.
“That so many people congregate in this way goes against every public health message that we have been making for more than six months.
“It is deeply disturbing that the owner allowed such a reckless event to occur.”
