Merseyside Police closed down a staged music event last night that flagrantly violated lockdown regulations.

At around 8.40pm, a report was received of a gathering of around 250 people at the Gladstone Island Conservatory in Stanley Park, Anfield.

Officials attended and closed the event before issuing a £ 10,000 fine to the event organizers.

The crowd dispersed and police investigations continue through licensing.

Superintendent Chris Gibson said: “The vast majority of people who live and work in Merseyside will be utterly desperate that such an event can be contemplated in our current circumstances.

“There were people very close, revealing the brazen disregard of the organizers for the serious health implications this can now have for the most vulnerable people in our communities.

“We will continue to take swift and positive action this weekend and beyond, in the event that we are informed of any other similar events.
