Adam Lallana replaces Yves Bissouma in Brighton’s midfield, a Graham Potter attacking decision. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has returned to the XI who won 3-0 here in June. That is a bit surprising; I thought Eric Bailly would replace Victor Lindelof.

Preamble
Morning. You don’t have to have seen the Anchorman movie to know it’s the source of the phrase “Well, that escalated quickly.” We see it in memes all the time, with a picture of the main character of the movie, Ron Jeremy. The main reason it is such a popular meme is that in modern society, things do climb pretty fast.
Look at Manchester United. They finished the 2019-20 season in a state of dizzying optimism; six weeks later, everything is pessimism. United have been quite a hat and no win in the transfer market, and they were alarmingly bad in last weekend’s 3-1 loss to Crystal Palace. If they lose today in Brighton, the media, traditional and social, will go to the city. It’s ridiculous after just two league games, to be sure, but it’s an immutable law of Premier League coverage that at least one club must be IN CRISIS.
Brighton is far from a crisis, having had a quietly impressive start to the season. They played well in the loss to Chelsea and won emphatically at Newcastle, when Tariq Lamptey wowed the world. As Palace played on the fast break at Old Trafford, Brighton will try to dominate possession and overtake United. That could work in United’s favor, given their speed at halftime and the absence of influential Yves Bissouma in Brighton’s midfield. It should be a fascinating game.
