A serious accident on the M25 is likely to cause traffic delays at Dartford Crossing this morning (Friday 25 September).

The M25 counterclockwise closes after the accident between junction five of the M26 and junction four of Orpington.

The road has been closed since 5.25 am, while emergency services work on site and traffic has also remained on the road in a clockwise direction since 6.20 am

Currently, there are six miles of queues that extend past junction three for Swanley Interchange and up to junction 1a at Dartford.

The accident is further along the M25, but congestion is easing towards Dartford Crossing, affecting drivers leaving Essex.

As rush hour traffic at Dartford Crossing is expected to worsen, drivers are advised to plan ahead and follow the detour routes.

Kent Police and the Southeast Coast Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
