‘I’m delighted with Kai, he was everything I wanted the night to be for him’ – Frank Lampard was thrilled when Chelsea’s record £ 89 million signing Havertz leaves behind a slow start to the Premier League season with a hat-trick in the Carabao Cup
Frank Lampard celebrated the “first of many great nights” for Kai Havertz after the 89 million pound forward scored a hat-trick in Barnsley’s 6-0 win.
The 21-year-old had gotten off to a slow start to his Blues career after playing wide right on his debut against Brighton and then using the center in a 2-0 loss to Liverpool before being eliminated in the break.
That prompted Jamie Carragher to question how the club’s record signing fits into the Chelsea system after their low-key displays.

Lampard insisted that he knows Havertz’s best position and that his role in the team will be clear when he is in top form.
And Havertz responded emphatically in the No. 10 role at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
“I’m delighted with Kai, he was everything I wanted the night to be for him,” Lampard said.

Because Kai has not had a preseason, and signing for the club also took him a few days off.

‘He made a great recovery inning for Ross’ goal. And then also have some freedom with the ball and roam in more central areas.
The 21-year-old forward completed his hat-trick with a clever finish on Wednesday night.
“I thought it was a great match with Tammy, and I was pleased with the way it turned into the game in terms of confidence. It was a great night for Kai, and the first of many for him. ”
Tammy Abraham, Ross Barkley and Olivier Giroud found the net to add to Havertz’s hat-trick, with the German international thriving at No. 10.
Speaking after the match, Havertz said: “I am very happy to score my first goal here at Chelsea, I am very happy for the victory and happy for my three goals and I hope we can continue like this.”
