Liverpool assistant Pep Lijnders has dismissed suggestions that new signing Diogo Jota will struggle to gain playing time at Anfield.
The Reds moved to bring the Portugal international to the club from Wolves last week, striking a £ 41 million deal that could rise to £ 45 million.
Liverpool had followed Jota for two years before making their trade with Jurgen Klopp, who was impressed by the 23-year-old’s willingness to push and his versatility.
Jota was moved to the top of a three-man roster after Lijnders received enthusiastic recommendations from contacts in Porto, where the Portuguese played during the 2016/17 season.
Jota will add some strength in depth to Liverpool’s options in a front row that already includes Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.
Lijnders says the club’s tight schedule this season means there will be ample opportunities for the new signing to claim a claim on the team.
