Two people in Bolton who “recklessly” disobeyed self-isolation rules have been fined £ 1,000.
The city of Greater Manchester has been at the top of coronavirus infection rates tables for weeks and residents are already under strict measures to curb the increase in cases.
Police confirmed that a man in his 40s was fined Tuesday after returning from Spain on September 20.
After receiving instructions to self-quarantine, he returned to work at his business in Horwich, just outside Bolton. The police officers showed up at his business where they issued the ticket.

In another case, a woman in her 20s from Darwen in Lancashire returned to work at a school in Bolton just two days after returning from a trip to Amsterdam.
Greater Manchester Police said they have now handed out four £ 1,000 fines that were introduced to try to get more people to comply with the rules on quarantine when they return from countries not on the exemption list.
Officials from Public Health England have contacted the people to check if they are following the rules and if they don’t get a response, the passenger’s details are relayed to the police.

Chief Inspector Nicola Williams of Greater Manchester Police said: “I hope these fines send a clear message to those who mistakenly believe they are exempt from this rule that we will apply this wherever we find that there are violations.
“This is an immensely challenging time for all of us, be it because of the impact these restrictions are having on our personal lives or our work lives.
“We continue to work with the principles of engaging, explaining and encouraging before opting for the last resort of enforcing, but there is no tolerance for those who blatantly ignore the rules that the rest of us are doing our best to adhere to on a daily basis. “.
