Around 20 people are trapped inside a pub after armed police closed the surroundings.
A worker at The Lair in Hull, East Yorkshire, said customers saw officers outside, went to take a closer look and were told to ‘get in’ and stay away from windows.
He says the police called him to give him the same instructions, so he closed the main shutters and blinds as a precaution.
Eyewitnesses said they saw ‘about 20 police cars’ and many service dogs arrive outside, while another says an officer told them to ‘get the shit back’ as they tried to pass the scene.
The pub was scheduled to close at 11pm. A man inside told HullLive: ‘Nobody knows what’s going on.
The police called the owner and asked him to tell us to stay away from the windows. We are allowed to go around the back, but not the front.
On Twitter, Humberside Police said: ‘Anlaby Road in Hull is currently closed between Ferensway and Park Street as police are dealing with an ongoing incident.
“We ask people to avoid the area to help us bring the incident to a safe conclusion.”
