An earthquake has been felt in Leighton Buzzard for the third time in two weeks.
People wrote on social media that they had felt their houses “shaking and shaking” around 09:30 BST.
The British Geological Survey (BGS) confirmed that the 3.0 magnitude quake occurred just north of the town of Bedfordshire.
Residents felt a 3.5 magnitude earthquake on September 8, followed by a 2.1 magnitude earthquake on September 13.
Matt Stewart, who lives in Eggington, about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) from Leighton Buzzard, said the tremors “almost got me out of bed.”
‘A buzz and a boom’
“It was as big as the first one, I think,” he said. “My wife ran downstairs and said, ‘oh no, not another.’
“It felt like a buzz and then a boom that went through the ground, then it shook the bloody house and a couple of pictures fell off the wall above, like last time.”
Stewart described it as “a horrible feeling.”
“You are just not in control and I would like to know what is happening, since this is the third one, it is very strange.”
The BGS said its provisional data suggested that the earthquake originated at a depth of about 6.2 miles (10 km).
