Several Leyton Orient players tested positive for coronavirus ahead of Tuesday’s Carabao Cup game against Tottenham.

Orient, who will face the Spurs in the third round live Soccer Sky Sports, have closed their Breyer Group stadium and training ground until further notice.

The League Two club confirmed that testing took place after its 2-2 draw against Mansfield on Saturday, and several of its players tested positive.

“Following our game on Saturday, September 19, Covid-19 tests were conducted on all of our first-team play equipment,” a statement from the club reads.

“Today (Monday 21) we received a formal confirmation showing that several of our first team team have tested positive for Covid-19.

“We have informed the EFL and Tottenham Hotspur and will make a further announcement about Tuesday’s game shortly.

Tottenham’s jerseys from their game against Leyton Orient on Tuesday will be auctioned to raise funds for a charity set up in memory of former Spurs player and Orient coach Justin Edinburgh.

The jerseys worn in the Carabao Cup third round knockout match will be signed and auctioned in aid of the JE3 Foundation, established in honor of a player who played 276 games for Spurs between 1990 and 2000 and died of strike heart rate at age 49 last year. .

Edinburgh also won two promotions with Orient as coach, guiding the East London club back to the Football League with a National League promotion in May 2019.

Harry Kane, who made his senior debut as a player on loan from Orient in 2011, has sponsored the club’s jerseys this season and donated the space to three charities.
