Jobi McAnuff says he is surprised and disappointed that the QPR and Coventry players did not kneel before their championship game on Friday night.
Jobi McAnuff expressed disappointment after Coventry and Queens Park Rangers chose not to kneel before Friday’s championship game.
It is the first time this has happened during a live televised football match, but QPR did not kneel in their first home game against Nottingham Forest.
“A little surprised, a little disappointed if I’m honest,” McAnuff said. Sky sports. “It is something that has been done to show solidarity with a movement and a very important moment that we are all going through at this time.
“It probably shows a lack of communication in all parts, be it in the PFA, the league, the clubs themselves.
“It’s not something that takes a long time before a game. Personally, I would have liked it to continue.”
Sky sports Reporter David Craig spoke with representatives from both clubs at St Andrew’s, where each team was offered the opportunity to kneel during the pre-match referee meeting.
It is understood that Coventry have been very happy to do so but, after QPR expressed their desire to continue as they did in their first match, it was decided between both clubs that they would not kneel.
“It appears that QPR has decided internally after discussions between its staff and the players, not to kneel in their games at the beginning of this new season,” Craig said.
