On this basis, NISRA adds, the deaths of nursing home residents account for 48.8% of all Covid-19 related deaths.
NISRA, looking at the issue of ‘excess deaths’, found that the ‘provisional number of total deaths from all causes’ recorded in Northern Ireland in the week ending 9/11 was 296, 62 less than in the week 35 but 20 more than in week 5. Annual average of 276.
In the last 24 weeks, in total, 1,141 “excess deaths” have been recorded in Northern Ireland (deaths above the average for the corresponding period in previous years).
Covid-19 was mentioned in the death certificate of seven (2.4%) of the 296 deaths registered in week 36, adds the Agency. This is four more than last week (week 35) and brings the total number of Covid-19 related deaths recorded in the calendar year to September 11 to 883. This figure varies from the other figure reported due to the delay in the paperwork processing. says the Agency.
People age 75 and older accounted for two-thirds (64.9%) of all deaths and 79.3% of Covid-19-related deaths recorded this calendar year through Sept. 11, NISRA said.
