The imminent transfer of Gareth Bale to Tottenham has reportedly left Real Madrid boss Florentino Pérez disappointed in manager Zinedine Zidane.
Bale is expected to complete his sensational return to Spurs on Friday, ending his nightmare at the Bernabéu after being frozen by Zidane.
The 31-year-old Wales star will cost José Mourinho’s team £ 20m in salaries and a loan fee, and Madrid will subsidize Bale’s salary in a bid to reduce the burden on his books.
£ 25m left-back Sergio Reguilón also moved from Madrid to Tottenham, who was also not favored by Zidane, but was impressed when he was on loan at Sevilla last season.
Both players were also linked to possible transfers to Manchester United this summer.
And the handling of the pair by the head coach, but particularly Bale, hasn’t been going well for Pérez, according to AS.
The Spanish publication says the Madrid president feels that Zidane could have handled Bale better after the £ 86m signing made it clear he was unhappy at the Bernabeu.
While Bale was never going to be the star of the Los Blancos team given the talent at his disposal during his time at the club, his offensive prowess is not in doubt.
He is blessed with speed, a fearsome southpaw and devastating head ability, which Pérez will feel Zidane could have put to more use during Bale’s remaining time at the club.

The president has also reportedly been unimpressed by Zidane’s treatment of Reguilon. The left-back is set to sign a five-year contract with Tottenham, and Madrid have insisted on a buy-back clause.
The clause seems to have been inserted at the insistence of Pérez rather than Zidane, who seems indifferent to the 23-year-old.
AS claims Reguilon will never be able to play at the Bernabéu while Zidane is in charge, a situation similar to that of Dani Ceballos, who was far down the pecking order at Madrid but impressed enough at Arsenal last season to get a loan repayment to Emirates this term.
However, despite the breakdown of relations between Zidane and some of his players, he is not believed to be under any serious pressure due to his impressive record as a Madrid manager.
During his two terms at the helm, the former World Cup winner of France has led Los Blancos to three Champions League wins, two La Liga titles, the Club World Cup, two UEFA Super Cups and two Spain Supercup.
