Liverpool are closing in on a deal to sign Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich for £ 27m.
Talks continue between Liverpool and Bayern about the player, who has one year left on his contract.
Thiago would be the second summer signing of the Premier League champions, after Greece left back Kostas Tsimikas.
When asked about a possible move by Thiago last week, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said: “I can’t end the speculation while the transfer window is open. Did I mention that Thiago Alcántara is a really good player? Long ago. weather.
“It’s good that we’re linked with him, but that’s what he really is. It’s because he’s a good player and Liverpool are a great club, so that’s good.”
Thiago began his career in Barcelona and was strongly linked with a move to Manchester United when David Moyes replaced Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013, but the move did not occur and he went to Germany.
In addition to the Champions League, he has won seven consecutive Bundesliga titles, four German Cups and the Club World Cup with Bayern.
