Bloodbath on church steps as bleeding men tumble down to bus stop

Bottle fighters left a bloody trail in Liverpool city center after violence broke out on the steps of Bombed-Out Church.

Police cordons could be seen throughout the city after men, some clutching bottles, began fighting in the early hours of this morning.

One man sustained a cut wound to the head, while two other men were left with facial injuries after the horrific scenes around 3.25am.

Two of the men remain in the hospital as a result of the fight that started in Bold Place next to St. Luke’s Church.

But people arriving downtown today encountered multiple police scenes with cordons around blood-spattered sidewalks, including outside the Redmonds building on Brownlow Hill and a bus stop on London Road.

Police confirmed that the three injured and a fourth have since been arrested.

A Merseyside police spokesman said: “We have arrested four men and are asking for witnesses following reports of a robbery in Liverpool city center in the early hours today.”

“It was reported shortly before 3.25 am that there was a fight at the foot of the steps outside the Bombed-out Church in Bold Place involving four men.

“Some of those involved were reported to be using bottles, and a 26-year-old man suffered a head injury. He was taken to hospital for treatment, where his condition is described as stable.”

“A 33-year-old man suffered a facial injury and remains stable in the hospital, and a 32-year-old man suffered hand and face injuries and was treated at the hospital before being released.”

Confirming the arrests, the spokesperson added: “Officers attended and a 22-year-old man from West Derby, a 26-year-old man from Anfield, a 32-year-old man from Huyton and a 33-year-old man from Anfield were arrested on suspicion of a skirmish. .

“A forensic examination of the scene is continuing and downtown CCTV opportunities are being explored to establish all the circumstances.”
