Drone footage shows devastating fire at Ashford industrial estate

These incredible drone images show the devastating fire engulfing buildings on an Ashford industrial estate this afternoon (Tuesday).

The incident at Cobbs Wood Industrial Estate was first reported to the Kent Fire and Rescue Service at 3.15pm

Since then, they have been on the scene with 10 fire trucks, a tall vehicle, and a bulk water.

People in the area were warned to stay indoors with closed doors and windows as acrid smoke fills the air.

In a statement issued at 4:45 pm, KFRS said: “Firefighters remain at the scene of a fire in a single-story warehouse on Cobbs Wood Industrial Estate, Ashford.

“Ten fire trucks and a bulk water vessel were dispatched to the scene, and crews are working to deal with and control the fire.

“Those who live or work in the local area are still being asked to close windows and doors as a precaution, due to the smoke.”

There has also been a ripple effect on travel in the area, as Stagecoach has had to close a nearby depot.

They say the shutdown may mean service disruptions both tonight and tomorrow.

Ashford City Council has reported that there may be some issues with local container pickups tomorrow.

They tweeted: “We had to evacuate the Biffa site in Cobbs Wood due to a fire at the facility next door.

“Kent Fire and Rescue is on the scene, however the fire may affect container collections today and tomorrow.

“We will update the areas that will be affected by this as we get the information.

“We appreciate the patience of our residents in these circumstances.”
