Students from two Teesside elementary schools have been sent home following confirmed cases of coronavirus.

Bader Primary, in Thornaby, received a positive test result for Covid-19, with Year 5 affected.

The school on Kintyre Drive informed parents when the cases came to light Monday night.

On Facebook, Director David Hodgson said: “We have a confirmed case of Covid-19 in the Year 5 group bubble.

“This bubble has closed tonight because everyone in it has to isolate themselves for 14 days.

“If your child is not in fifth grade, he will not be affected and must attend school tomorrow at the normal arrival time.

“Thanks for your cooperation.”

There has also been a confirmed case of the Junction Farm Primary School virus, in Eaglescliffe.

A parent contacted Teesside Live to say that the positive case affected the freshmen, however the school has yet to confirm this.

In an email sent Thursday, September 10, parents were told that a full risk assessment had been carried out and that only those who had been in close contact with the infected person should isolate themselves.

The message read: “We have been informed that there has been a confirmed case of Covid-19 inside the school.

“We have conducted a full risk assessment with Public Health England and have identified all those who have been in close contact with the affected case and recommended that they stay home and self-isolate for up to 14 days after their last contact.

The email added that the children who had not been identified as a close contact would not need to make any changes to their usual routine, including attending school.
