Dortmund insists that Jadon Sancho will not be allowed to leave this summer after revealing that they have yet to receive a new offer from Manchester United for the winger.
The Red Devils last submitted an offer for Sancho in August, but they fell well short of the £ 108m valuation the Germans made of the former Manchester City midfielder.
Sancho is believed to be interested in moving to Old Trafford and United felt they had made a breakthrough in negotiations last week after agreeing personal terms with the winger’s representatives.
However, with just three weeks to go in the transfer window, Dortmund appears to have put one final nail in the coffin of United’s hopes after Sebastian Kehl, the club’s sporting director, said that Sancho would stay at the club.
“Jadon Sancho will play for Dortmund this season,” Kehl said.
“Manchester United have not presented a new offer to sign him.”
United are still desperate to sign Sancho, but are unwilling to pay £ 108 million and feel the pandemic has made that figure impossible.
Dortmund, however, feel they are in a strong position and do not need to sell.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has drawn up a list of alternatives to Sancho, although his preference remains to sign the 20-year-old.
Gareth Bale tops United’s list, but questions remain over whether a loan can be arranged for the Welshman due to his £ 600,000 weekly salary.
The 31-year-old is keen to move to Old Trafford, but players like Ivan Perisic and Douglas Costa could prove to be more viable alternatives.
