It is a beautiful sunny afternoon in North London., and the players have their business faces.

“This Everton lineup It’s a long way from the team that beat Sheffield United 1-0 in July, right? ”Says Matt Burtz. Cautious optimism is always the name of the game before each season, but I think it’s actually justified now. At least, Allan can fill the role of Idrissa Gueye who was sadly left unfulfilled last season. Of course, if they lose 3-0 today, pretend I never wrote this. ”

“A side note to the new signings and high-profile coaches in this clash, but is this the first meeting between Son and Gomes since the unfortunate injury? Duncan Edwards says. “Even as high-level professionals and decent guys, I wonder what they’re both thinking.”
They also played against each other in July. I doubt something like that will ever leave you, mind.

“This is the good thing about the Premier League”, says Mary Waltz. “The new signings have lifted the traditional pessimism of this Everton fan. For at least one game, I can ignore my team’s multi-year pattern of crushing mediocrity in the middle of the table. James will regain his form at the World Cup in Colombia. All is well in the world, at least for the next half hour. “

“Night Rob, exciting game today with 1-0 written all over it ”, says Yash Gupta. “As a Spurs fan, I notice that the media has played down Mourinho and Spurs this season. Where do you see the Spurs ending up?
It depends a lot on Harry Kane. If he stays in shape and returns to his best from 2016-18, they could finish third; if not, somewhere between the fourth and seventh, I guess.

In defense of Jose
“I really don’t understand the blatant racism that The Guardian journalists have put against José Mourinho,” writes Pedro Maia. “If this had been directed at anyone else with such astonishing results, it would be more than enough reason for public outcry, but with Mou it seems that being extremely competent at your job allows you to abuse the man.
“I hope this can be avoided by including honesty in the discussion when talking about Mou. He is a wonderful human being and an amazing strategist. Throwing it out is simply to ridicule the precision that is the watermark of most sections of Guardian. “
I really like Mourinho, and honestly I would love for him to win the Premier or the Champions League with Spurs and then tell the world what time it is. I agree that he is not judged fairly or rationally and that he is an exceptional strategist / analyst. But in recent years he has not come close to any of those big awards and has fought with a lot of people in various clubs. I hope I’m wrong, but I think the most likely scenario is that it will happen again at Spurs. Many great coaches, and Mourinho clearly was, they lose themselves in the second half of their careers.

Preamble
Hello and welcome to live coverage of a meeting between the eternal optimists of the Premier League. Despite the perpetual disappointment, the Spurs and Everton always come back for more with a hopeful demeanor and an open checkbook. This time, the optimism comes from the fact that it is his first full season with two of the most successful coaches of the modern era, José Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti. Everton have also made some interesting signings, notably 2014 World Cup favorite James Rodriguez.
It’s a great season for both clubs. This could be Mourinho’s last chance to show that he is still compatible with the modern footballer. And if Everton’s revamped squad can’t improve on 12th last season, they really are in trouble.
Kick off 16.30 h.
