Edu confirms Arsenal’s “clear” transfer position amid the ties between Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar

Edu says he will personally oversee each and every Arsenal transfer business for the remainder of this summer after Raul Sanllehi’s departure last month.

The former Gunners midfielder-turned-manager is taking on a practical role during the transfer window and sent a message to clubs that Arsenal are dealing with both ins and outs this summer.

“It is important to be clear. What I would like from now on is that everything related to football reaches me,” Edu told the Gunners website.

“All contacts, if the agents want to talk to the player, internally, externally, external people have to see me, and my name, as the first to call or connect.

“Of course we have a lot of people involved, but I just want to be clear, people outside of Arsenal have to understand who they should connect with about football.

Edu takes the front and center of Arsenal’s plans

“It’s important because sometimes they don’t feel clear about it. To be clear and open with you, that’s how we’re going to operate.”

Arsenal remain strongly linked to the movements of midfielder Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar this summer, but have made little progress in valuing the Atletico Madrid and Lyon players respectively.

The club also wants to ditch several players from the team to free up salaries, and the Gunners currently have eight first-team centers on their books.

But Edu says this particular transfer market is tough.

“The market at the moment is challenging,” he added.

“Everyone is waiting, everyone wants to swap, everyone talks about loans.

Raúl Sanllehi left the club last month

“Where we have to be prepared is what we really need to receive from abroad.

“For example, a lot of clubs ask me or tell me about loaned or traded players, but I don’t see that they are really prepared to do the kind of things they ask me to do.

“For me what is important internally is that we have a clear plan about the players we want to keep, the players we want to give up and the players we want to sell.

“After that we have to be patient, to understand how the markets are reacting and wait a little longer to make the right decision.”
