An irate Piers Morgan called Health Secretary Matt Hancock “utter disgrace” after he refused to appear on Good Morning Britain today.

Unsurprisingly, however, the Conservative MP agreed to participate in a BBC breakfast, leaving Piers outraged.

Good Morning Britain had been eager to invite the Secretary of Health to the ITV show after news that the number of coronavirus cases increased by 2,420 following another large spike in infections.

New measures that have been put in place to curb the increase include banning gatherings of more than six people as of Monday.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock also warned there were signs that a second spike could occur after a “worrying” spike in infections.

However, Piers Morgan was furious that the cabinet member refused to be interviewed by himself or Susanna Reid.

Piers tweeted: “UPDATE: As UK coronavirus cases and deaths rise again, we asked No10 if they would put any minister in for an interview on @GMB to inform our viewers of the troubling situation. By 134 ° consecutive day, they declined. ”

He had also retweeted Dan Walker, who wrote: “Health Secretary @MattHancock will be joining us LIVE on #BBCBreakfast at 7:30 am.

“Please let us know if you have any questions about tests, restrictions, infection rates, or anything else.”

Piers replied, “Of course I do. Shame on @MattHancock, it’s an absolute shame that you refuse to come to @GMB during a public health crisis and refuse to inform our viewers about it.”

* Good Morning Britain airs Monday through Friday at 6am on ITV
