Callum Wilson has signed for Newcastle from Bournemouth for £ 20m on a four-year deal.
Wilson turned down Aston Villa and flew from the south coast to Tyneside in Mike Ashley’s private helicopter to complete the deal, leaving Bournemouth after six years after his relegation to the Sky Bet Championship.
Wilson becomes the third highest transfer fee paid by Newcastle by a player, behind Joelinton (£ 40 million from Hoffenheim in 2019) and Miguel Almiron (£ 21 million from Atlanta United in 2019).

When asked how it felt to join Newcastle, Wilson said Sky Sports News: “It feels amazing. Such a great club. It was not an easy decision as Villa is back home to me, but this club is huge and I want to get off to a good start.
“The strikers here have been iconic over the years and I want to emulate what they have accomplished. My son saw the movie objective – So I wanted you to come here! Today I met most of the guys and I can’t wait to train with them.

The 28-year-old forward, a four-time caps for England, is set to join former teammate Ryan Fraser, who agreed to a deal to join Newcastle as a free agent and completed his medical exam on Monday.

“Ryan Fraser was a great partner of mine at Bournemouth,” added Wilson. “We had great communication. He would be a great addition to any team and I am looking forward to playing with him if he comes here.”
The duo hold the record for most Premier League goal combinations (12) in a 38-game season, set in 2018/19.
Wilson scored 67 goals in 187 Bournemouth appearances after arriving from Coventry in 2014 and also attracted interest from Fulham, West Ham and Tottenham this summer. He was previously linked to a move to Chelsea.
He scored eight goals in the Premier League last season, but it wasn’t enough to help the Cherries survive as their five-year stint in the top flight came to an end.
Newcastle, meanwhile, agreed to a £ 15 million fee for left-back Jamal Lewis with Norwich on Saturday, with the player ready for a medical on Tuesday.
Bournemouth also remains interested in a deal for former player Matt Ritchie, who signed a new contract with Newcastle in March, although the midfielder’s salaries can be a problem.

Newcastle’s attempt to take over Arsenal defender Rob Holding is now on hold for the time being.
Arsenal are currently unwilling to let the defender leave, despite starting talks with Newcastle about a loan to St James’ Park for their 24-year-old center-back.
Magpies maintain an interest in the player, but may have to bide their time, depending on whether Arsenal decide to bring in a replacement to release Holding.
Holding would boost Steve Bruce’s central defense options heading into the new Premier League season, which begins in West Ham on September 12.
