LIVE: North Wales Second School Staff Member Tests Positive for Coronavirus

There have been positive tests for coronavirus in two schools in North Wales.

A Ysgol Friars, Bangor staff member has contracted the virus and the school cafeteria will be closed until further notice.

Parents at the school have been informed and North Wales Live understands that students have been asked to bring packed lunches to school.

A member of the Elementary staff at St Christopher’s also tested positive for the virus, prompting the school to close until at least September 9.

Here’s what schools should do if there’s a coronavirus outbreak

The official government council revealed that primary and secondary schools across the UK were affected by the Covid-19 cases.

Directors are forced to take ‘quick action’ when they realize that someone who has attended has tested positive for coronavirus.

Here are the steps you need to take if you have confirmed cases of coronavirus.

In a statement, San Cristóbal said:

“This morning we learned that a staff member from the primary phase tested positive for Covid-19. This is currently an isolated incident and we are working closely with Welsh Public Health and the local authority to ensure that we are putting everything in order to keep everyone safe. The health and safety of our students and staff is paramount and we will always prioritize this in our decision making.

We will get in touch with you as soon as we have more information. In the meantime, please contact us at the school office if you want to discuss with your stage bosses. Thank you for your cooperation and patience during this difficult and unprecedented time. As a result, the school will remain closed tomorrow as a precautionary measure and we will work to reopen on Wednesday 9 September ”.

St Christopher’s has confirmed that the staff member who tested positive for Covid-19 is from the primary phase.

The school closed today and will remain closed until at least September 9.

Angry Parents Are Contemplating Homeschooling Again

Dawn Thomas, whose grandchildren attend Ysgol Friars, said:

“My whole family is so angry right now. My daughter is absolutely furious and said that if they had told the truth yesterday, she would not have sent her children. Now she is debating continuing to homeschool them again like she did during the lockdown.”

The children were already in school today when the Covid-19 case was confirmed

Parents were told that the lunchroom would close last night, but were informed that a staff member had tested positive after their children were already in school today.

The editor’s letter, seen by North Wales Live, reads:

“As a precautionary measure, we have decided not to wait for the result of the track and trace, but we have closed the canteen until further notice. It will be closed at recess. At lunchtime, packed lunches will be served to Free School Meals students. All others must receive packed lunches from parents.

“The breakfast club will move to the lounge, but no food or drink will be provided. We will keep you informed of any news and when the dining room will reopen. “

Parents were not initially informed about the Covid case

Parents received an email from the school at 6:23 pm yesterday stating that the canteen would be closed, but the case of the coronavirus was not mentioned.

The email read:

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, the cafeteria will not be serving food tomorrow. Children must bring their own packed lunch. Those eligible for free school meals will receive a packed lunch. “

Cases in other schools in Wales

The news follows cases in eight other schools in Wales since they reopened.

30 children in Ysgol Bro Edern, Cardiff must isolate for two weeks after the case is confirmed. Cases have also been reported at Cymmer Primary School and Pontygwaith Primary School in Rhondda.

Maesteg School staff member Bridgend has also tested positive for Covid-19, while Covid-19 cases have been confirmed at Ysgol and Dderwen in Carmarthenshire and also at Woodlands Community Primary in Cwmbran.

Students in Years Seven, 10, 12, and 13 attended school last week.

With the remaining students ready to return starting today.

‘No evidence of coronavirus at school’

The director of the Ysgol friars, Niel Foden, said: “We have no evidence that this was contracted in the school and the timescale suggests that it did not originate here.”
