Cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in three schools in the area around Middlesbrough
Redcar and the Cleveland City Council said Sunday a positive case had been reported at RC St. Benedict Elementary School.
However, the local authority said that the school, in Redcar, will remain open and that parents received advice.
St Aidan’s CE Primary School in Hartlepool said in a Facebook post to parents that it also had a confirmed case of Covid-19.
And Outwood Academy Ormesby, Middlesbrough, said in a brief statement that a confirmed case had been found “within the school community.”
In a statement to parents Sunday, St Aidan’s CE Elementary School principal Lynn Chambers said the “person” who tested positive was sent home after showing symptoms.
She said: “Public Health England cautioned that since no child had been in close contact with the person, there was no need for any child to stay home or isolate himself as a result.”
Outwood Academy Ormesby, in Netherfields, Middlesbrough, said the person who tested positive did not contract the virus in high school.
