Cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in 62 UK schools since the pupils returned last week.
Many schools have been forced to close and many more to tell students’ classes to isolate themselves after the outbreaks.
In what may be a sign of things to come for the rest of the country, Scotland has been hit the hardest.
Students returned to the classroom several weeks earlier in Scotland than in Wales, Northern Ireland and England.

England
Bradford
The Dixons Academies Trust, which runs 12 academies in Bradford and Leeds, has confirmed that two staff members and one student tested positive for the virus at three academies.
Although the Trust has not named the schools, it is understood that two of them are Dixons Trinity Academy and Dixons Kings Academy.
A small number of staff and students have been asked to self-isolate.
Burnley
A 7 year old at Unity College caught the bug on the first day back to school.
He had shown no symptoms, but his family immediately picked him up and told him to isolate himself.
The other 25 students from the Year 7 ‘bubble’ were sent home on Wednesday afternoon and will also be self-isolating for 14 days.
Chapel hill
A staff member from RC St Cecilia High School tested positive on September 5.
No students have been affected, but 12 staff members have been advised to self-isolate for 14 days.
Chesham
An unknown number of students at Chesham Grammar School contracted the virus last week.
Most of them are said to have been infected abroad during school holidays.
The school had not reopened when the cases were confirmed.
Didcot
Hadden Hill Nursery will be closed until Friday, September 11 after an outbreak.
The daycare has not specified whether it is a child or a staff member who has coronavirus.
Hartlepool
St Aidan Elementary School saw a student or staff member test positive.
Principal Lynn Chambers told parents that after following Public Health England’s advice, there was no need to close parts of the school or ask children to isolate themselves.
Leeds
Bardsey Elementary School will only welcome years five and six on September 8 after a staff member tested positive.
The rest of the school is now scheduled for another week of learning at home.
Leicester
Winstanley School has registered one case.
Parents have been urged to monitor their children and have them isolate themselves if they begin to show symptoms.
Manchester
King David High School reopened for 6th grade students and new Year 7 admission on Friday, August 28.
One of the older students began to feel ill with a fever that night.
Three students who were six feet from the affected student now have to isolate themselves for 14 days.
Marlow
There has been an outbreak among pupils at Sir William Borlase’s primary school.
It is not known how many students were affected.
Market Harborough
A Ridgeway Primary Academy student tested positive for the coronavirus.
They have been asked to self-isolate for 10 days.
Other students who were in close contact with the child were asked to isolate themselves for two weeks.
Medway
A Strood Academy employee and three other staff members were recommended to isolate themselves after a positive case at school.
Nottingham
Mellers Elementary School has been forced to close after a teacher tested positive for coronavirus.
The school confirmed that a Year 1 teacher had tested positive for Covid-19 in a statement on its website.
Rocester
The JCB Academy was closed on Friday after a positive case.
It is not known whether the affected person was a student or a staff member.
Whitworth
Although her identity is currently unknown, a Rossendale County councilor has confirmed that several cases date back to a school in Whitworth.
It is not known how many people have tested positive and when.
North Ireland
Belfast
St Joseph’s College told parents that a case had been detected on August 29.
It is understood that the young man had contact with only one class.
They have been told to isolate themselves.
A student at De La Salle College and Larne Grammar School contracted the disease.
Students at the school have been told to insulate themselves while deep cleaning is being done.
Jonesborough
Jonesborough Elementary School was forced to close after a child contracted the coronavirus.
Dozens of children were asked to isolate themselves after the discovery in late August.
Magherafelt
An elementary school class had to self-isolate for 14 days from late August after a case of Covid-19 was confirmed.
Holy Family Elementary School told students not to return to school until September 10.
Scotland
Aberdeen
Oldmachar Academy closed its doors for a deep cleaning after a positive case in mid-August.
In a message, Director Judith Mohamed said: “I realize this news will be disturbing.
“However, the decision to close is purely precautionary and we will continue to do everything possible to support the health and well-being of our school community.”
Blairgowrie
Newhill Elementary School has a student who tested positive for Covid-19 in late August.
Bonnyrigg
A student at Lasswade High School in Bonnyrigg tested positive in late August.
The Scottish Government Test and Protection team has contacted a small number of students and staff who were in close contact with the student.
Borughty ferry
A Grove Academy student contracted the coronavirus.
The case led 14 of his contacts to isolate themselves until September 5.
Dundee
Kingspark School had a major outbreak that was linked to 40 cases.
The small school for students with additional needs is due to reopen on September 7 after 18 days of closure due to cases.
Those affected were 23 staff members, three students and 14 community cases.
A single case was identified at SS Peter and Paul’s RC Primary School in the city.
Dundee’s St. Clement’s RC Primary also asked some students to isolate themselves after a positive case.
Dunfermline
A Queen Anne High School student tested positive.
Her sophomore class was told to isolate themselves until September 11.
Edinburgh
A Dalkeith High School student tested positive for Covid-19 and self-isolated in late August.
School officials said a deep cleaning was not carried out and that the facility remained open as the infected student has not been at school for a few days.
Currie Community High School asked 96 students and staff to self-isolate after a confirmed case.
James Gillespie High School remained open in early September despite a confirmed case.
Students from Preston Tower, Balbardie Primary School, Lasswade High School, Dalry Primary School and Granton Primary School tested positive in mid-August.
Fife
Newburgh Elementary School and Daycare in Fife had a positive case.
The boy was isolated at home and the school remained open.
A Queen Anne High School student has been in isolation since last Monday.
The area health board said there is no evidence to suggest forward transmission within the school.
Inverness
A staff member at Kinmylies Elementary School in Inverness tested positive for the virus on August 18.
The school remained open.
Glasgow
Three Glasgow schools have had outbreaks this week.
Cases were reported in Dalmarnock and St Martha Primary Schools and Govan Secondary School in Glasgow.
Everyone should open normally on Monday and contact tracing is underway.
It is not known whether those affected were students or teachers.
Contact tracing personnel were dispatched to Corpus Christi Elementary School and Holy Cross Elementary School late last week following an outbreak.
In mid-August it was reported that several students at Bannerman High School in Baillieston had tested positive.
Two children tested positive at Aileymill Primary and the two-year-old groups were told to isolate themselves in early September.
Helensburgh
Two students at Hermitage Academy school caught the virus.
Everyone in close contact was advised to isolate themselves for 14 days.
Johnstone
St Anthony’s Elementary School in Johnstone has reported a positive case.
cashmere
Mossvale Primary in Paisley, Renfrewshire saw a positive case this week.
The school will open for classes on Monday.
Wallace Elementary in nearby Elderslie suffered an outbreak in mid-August, as did Todholm Elementary in Paisley.
Perth
A St John’s RC Academy student tested positive in mid-August.
The school remained open while the student’s close contacts were told to isolate themselves for 14 days.
An Oakbank elementary school student also tested positive for the error.
Prestwick
Teens from Marr College and Prestwick Academy have been told to stay home for 14 days.
A health protection team has been conducting contact tracing with the “small number” of students who have been in the presence of a case of coronavirus infection.
Both schools remained open at the beginning of the month.
Saltcoats
A student at St Matthew’s Academy contracted the coronavirus in late August.
A small group of students from Saltcoats High School have been contacted and told to isolate themselves.
Troon
The case was confirmed on August 25 at Granny Smith’s Nursery in Troon.
The boy was said to have very mild symptoms while recovering at home.
NHS test and trace teams have been in contact with the nursery following the positive test.
Welsh
Negotiated
A staff member at St Gwladys Elementary School in Bargoed tested positive.
A class of 21 students have been told to isolate themselves for two weeks after the discovery.
Bridgend
The Bridgend council has confirmed a case in two schools this week.
Both Ysgol Bryn Castell at Brynmenyn and Maesteg School have been affected because staff tested positive.
Students are expected to return as scheduled on Monday, in addition to Key Stage 4 students at Ysgol Bryn Castell, who will return on September 21.
Carmarthen
A positive test was recorded at Ysgol and Dderwen Elementary in Carmarthen.
The council said the school was treating the case “in accordance with its screening, tracing and protection procedures.”
Cwmbran
The Torfaen council confirmed a staffing case at Woodlands Community Elementary Cwmbran.
The staff member did not come into contact with the students.
