Britain’s Got Talent made a strong comeback on Saturday night, when the first semi-final of 2020 aired on ITV.
Of course, there was a magic act or two to get viewers back in business, with father and son duo James and Dylan leaving everyone baffled.
But some viewers already think they know how the guys pulled off their impressive performance.
Due to the camera work and possible deception of the image, some viewers could not see what the fuss was about when many revealed that they were “blown away” by the act.
Instead, they took to Twitter to claim they knew exactly what had happened, with a few different theories circulating.
While some fans believed there was a hatch, others noted that the father and son were wearing the same jeans and similar shoes.
The other idea was that the photographs used were carefully selected or even exchanged before being revealed to the audience.
James began the performance by scattering photographs across the stage, before asking Ashley to join him.
Ashley was asked to choose six of the images that were upside down, before placing them on a table.
His son Dylan then joined James via a video link, or maybe a pre-recorded video, as James proceeded to place his hand over an image one at a time, still face down.
One by one, Dylan guessed what the photograph was, who was in it, and what they were doing without even looking at them.
Viewers were stunned, until it hit picture six and that’s when Ashley could barely speak.
It was a picture of him and his own son Micah, whom he welcomed locked up with his wife Francesca.
Not only that, but the little pictures when put together spelled the little one’s name.
Just as Ashley was reeling, the huge image that had been hidden under a black sheet throughout the performance also revealed an enlarged version of the same image of Ashley and Micah.
But the surprises didn’t stop there, and the final twist left some completely baffled and impressed.
As James held the huge image over his face and body, the video above soon showed him instead of his son.
Then when the photo was taken, he was no longer on stage and had, in fact, been replaced by a seemingly absent Dylan.
When Ashley jumped out of her chair, James suddenly appeared behind him and the other judges.
However, eagle-eyed fans think they’ve figured it out, and take to Twitter to share their theories.
One viewer said: “The photos were exchanged for the prepared ones while returning to the table.”
Another tweeted: “Assuming the photos he needed were already on the table with the black back, then he placed the new cards on top before turning them over. You could at least recreate them that way.”
A third added: “The man exchanged the cards he needed, his son’s recording and he was prerecorded and he ran after the judges when they were focused on the video. Simple magic. And they used the connection between father and son to get sympathy. I’m not impressed. “
Meanwhile, a fourth said: “They were both wearing the same sneakers and jeans!”
A fifth added: “That’s not magic, he dropped the black cloth to purposely hide the fact that he got off through a hatch. Then his son came up behind the easel and carried the poster.”
Another tweeted: “I liked your audition, but this trick basically consisted of the father hiding 6 photos in his pocket, and then #BGT helped with camera tricks for the change.”
Finally, a viewer thought: “Not live and the camera was conveniently switched to the judges so that the dad could run off the stage, the video was recorded, all the images that fell were the same, he just needed to put them in order on the table with maybe a little mark showing which is which. “
Britain’s Got Talent airs Saturdays at 8pm on ITV.
