Ten fire crews are fighting the huge fire in Vicarage Lane, Hoo, which is believed to have started around 5 a.m.
Neighbors took to social media to report that they had heard a “big explosion” in the early hours.
Many attached photos to their posts, and some showed large plumes of smoke billowing over the River Medway.
Others captured the huge flames as they soared into the air.
Dramatic images also posted on Twitter show the moment when a “big explosion” shakes the industrial unit, which was already well lit.
After a new wave of fire engulfs the building, a woman can be heard in the video saying, “This is the fourth time this has happened.”
A spokesman for the Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters are advising the public to avoid the area while emergency services deal with the incident.
“A lot of smoke also comes from the fire, so people who live or work near the area of the fire and the smoke plume, which includes the Hoo Peninsula, are advised to close windows and doors as a measure. of caution. “
Fire crews have also employed the use of a drone to help them fight the blaze.
The Medway Council is advising people to avoid the area, as there are several road closures around Vicarage Road.
