On Wednesday, the streaming giant announced that it had struck a deal with Meghan and Harry to produce movies, documentaries and children’s shows for its platform. This follows a similar deal Netflix made with Barack and Michelle Obama in 2018.
However, there are concerns that the agreement could cause tension between the couple and the Royal Family in general.
According to a royal source, speaking to The Mirror, any contract signed by Meghan and Harry “will be examined by the royal house.”
The source said: “Harry and Meghan left as hardworking members of the family with everyone’s best wishes and it is sincerely hoped that they will find the happiness that seemed to be lacking in their lives.
“However, it goes without saying that any deal they are making will be scrutinized by the royal house.

“Under the terms of their deal to waive their royal duties, they agreed that any business deal would be up for discussion.
“This deal with Netflix, any talk or other corporate work are examples.”
“Both the royal family and senior courtiers will know what this looks like to the public, especially as the couple have yet to repay the £ 2.4 million they promised to reimburse the taxpayer for Frogmore Cottage, which will be their UK base. . “
It is unknown if Harry and Meghan will use their titles, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, for their Netflix project.

In January, the couple caused a worldwide sensation by announcing that they planned to resign as active royal.
Instead, they vowed to become “financially independent” while dividing their time between North America and Great Britain.
After discussions with senior royals, Meghan and Harry agreed to leave their ‘Sussex Royal’ mark and reimburse the £ 2.4 million of taxpayers’ money spent on the restoration of Frogmore Cottage, their former home near Windsor.
According to The Mirror, this sum has yet to be fully repaid.

In a statement, Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s chief content officer, said the company is delighted with its deal with the couple.
He said: “Harry and Meghan have inspired millions of people around the world with their authenticity, optimism and leadership.
“We are incredibly proud that they have chosen Netflix as their creative home, and we are excited to tell stories with them that can help build resilience and increase understanding for audiences everywhere.”
The Duke and Duchess recently moved into a £ 11.2 million home in a city north of Los Angeles.
The luxurious property includes a tennis court, swimming pool and children’s cabana.
In reaction to their dealings with Netflix, Meghan and Harry commented: “Our lives, both independent of each other and as a couple, have allowed us to understand the power of the human spirit, courage, resilience and the need for connection.
“Through our work with diverse communities and their environments, to shed light on people and causes around the world, our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope.

Prince Harry has already been working with American star Oprah Winfrey on a mental health documentary series for Apple TV +.
A new Disney nature documentary was released in March, voiced by Meghan.
