Kai Havertz is close to becoming Chelsea’s seventh signing in the summer transfer window
Kai Havertz is approaching a change to Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen after the clubs agreed on a package of € 80 million plus € 20 million in add-ons for the midfielder.
Chelsea, who have been in talks with their Bundesliga counterparts for several weeks about a deal for the German international, concluded negotiations for the club’s record transfer of £ 89 million on Wednesday, according to Heaven in Germany.
Havertz, who is eager to join the club as soon as possible, has yet to have a medical examination with Chelsea and remains with the Germany team for UEFA Nations League matches with Spain and Switzerland.
Chelsea’s previous record contract was the signing of Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao for £ 71.6 million in 2018.
Earlier this week, Leverkusen head coach Peter Bosz said the 21-year-old is unlikely to return to training for the club as he approaches the Premier League.
Havertz looks set to become Frank Lampard’s seventh summer signing, following the arrivals of Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva, Malang Sarr and Xavier Mbuyamba.
As part of the deal, Chelsea have offered Leverkusen the opportunity to sign one of their newcomers for the summer, Sarr, on loan for the remainder of the season.

Havertz aims to become Chelsea superstar
German soccer expert Raphael Honigstein says Havertz will “dominate” Germany’s national team for the next 10 years.
