Meghan Markle and Prince Harry signed a multi-year deal with the US streaming service Netflix, which has more than 193 million subscribers around the world. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who ceased to be royals less than six months ago, will produce documentaries, documentaries, feature films, scripted programs and children’s programming.

The firm, which will see the couple find a new production company yet to be named, gives their 15-month-old son Archie a sweet nod as they are eager to produce family shows.

The couple said in a statement: “Our focus will be on creating content that is informative but also hopeful.

“As new parents, it is also important for us to create inspiring family programming.”

They added that Netflix’s “unprecedented reach will help us share powerful content that unlocks action.”

The content will be exclusive to Netflix.

It is not yet known how much Meghan and Harry will be paid for the deal.

Netflix has said that they are delighted to have the Duke and Duchess on board.

Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer and Co-CEO of Netflix, said: “We are incredibly proud that they have chosen Netflix as their creative home and we are excited to tell stories with them that can help build resilience and increase understanding of audiences in everywhere”.
