A British mother was found dead in her Ibiza Rocks hotel room by her devastated sister after she died in her sleep during a girls’ trip to the party island.

Amy Connor, 23, was staying at the famous party destination in the resort town of San Antonio with her sister, Toni, 26, and her cousin, Alison.

The group, from Coleraine in Northern Ireland, had been sunbathing before returning to their room to rest on August 20.

Toni told Belfast Live: ‘We had been in the pool and then we came back to the bedroom for a while, so Amy got into the shower and then got into bed.

“ I went and sat on the balcony and had some chips and freshened up and when I came back she was still in bed.

‘It was so surreal, it didn’t make sense. It was a huge shock. ‘

Toni, who is in her second year of journalism studies at the University of Belfast, praised the hotel staff for their “appalling generosity in our time of need.”

To return home, she and her cousin, Alison had to fly to Majorca and then Dublin before returning to Belfast.

Ibiza Rocks bills itself as ‘the home of the pool party’ and is known for its lively DJ sets with stars like Craig David, Rudimental, DJ EZ and Sonny Fodera.

Three weeks ago it hosted a Fatboy Slim set, while Jane Park, who became the EuroMillions winner in 2017, was also a recent visitor.

Guests can watch poolside performances from their balconies and there’s also a rooftop with ocean views.

Toni said she had been inundated with messages from supporters after her sister’s death.

She said: ‘It is not an exaggeration when I say that I have been sent more than 1,000 messages on Facebook alone, there have been bouquets of flowers and cards and everything sent to the house, people have been very generous.’

Toni called Amy “friendly and outgoing” and said her sister was “the kind of person that if you met her once, you would definitely remember her.”

Spanish police said they would not comment on what caused his death until an autopsy had been performed.

In addition to her daughter Kaliyah, Amy left behind three siblings and her parents, Carol and Arthur.

Toni earlier paid tribute to her sister on Facebook, writing: ‘I don’t understand how life goes.

Her mother Carol wrote: ‘My girl … I love you very much.’

Hundreds of tributes also came in from Amy’s friends, including one who wrote: “I met Amy as a little teenager who used to come to my workplace at the time in Coleraine and she was always a little ball of energy.”

Another said: ‘My heart is breaking for all of you, no words will ever help but I believe your little Amy will give you all the strength to endure the long and difficult road ahead. Fly high with the Angels Amy Connor.

A third friend wrote: ‘Amy, you were the most beautiful soul. Honestly, I’m so surprised that you went to heaven.

‘Please check on your family. We will all miss you deeply, my heart breaks for all of you. ‘

Amy’s sisters and friends will carry her body in a specially made pink coffin during her funeral in Belfast today.

The courtship will pass through Ballywillan Cemetery in Portrush after the 1 pm service before returning to Amy’s mother’s home.

In a Facebook message, Toni thanked the local community for their support.

“People can say what they want about Coleraine and the surrounding areas, but one thing I do know is that when times get tough, they support each other,” he wrote.

‘They will go out of their way to help others in need, they have been amazing, the help and generosity of the people has been overwhelming.

“I am very grateful to have the best family and friends.”
