A motorcyclist was hit by a truck and was seriously injured in an accident at a busy intersection.
Emergency services were called to East Lancashire Road in St Helens on Monday afternoon, shortly after 1pm.
Paramedics and police came to the spot where a man had been knocked off his motorcycle on the road bound for Manchester on Windle Island.
A short time later, he was rushed to hospital and is being treated for several serious injuries.
According to Merseyside Police, the truck driver stopped at the scene and assisted officers with the accident investigation.
In a statement, a spokesman for the force said: “We are asking for witnesses after a seriously injured traffic collision in St Helens this afternoon, Monday August 31st.
“At 1:15 pm, a truck was reported to have collided with a motorcycle on the Manchester-bound carriageway of East Lancashire Road on Windle Island near the Windle Pilkingtons Bridge.
“The emergency services were attended and the motorcyclist was taken to the hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries.
“His condition is not life-threatening.

“The truck driver stopped at the scene.
