Arsenal fans praised coach Mikel Arteta after he showed off some of his old skills during Saturday’s Community Shield showdown at Wembley.
The Gunners prevailed by beating Liverpool on penalties after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Takumi Minamino made it 1-1 in regulation time.
But head coach Arteta drew attention with a nice touch down the sideline after cushioning Virgil van Dijk’s punt, with some Gunners fans joking that the Spaniard should start himself in midfield.

The Arsenal manager lowered the ball from a great height before catching it coldly
Arteta hasn’t played for four years, but clearly he still hasn’t lost his ball skills after effortlessly controlling the ball into the Dutchman’s sky.
He didn’t even appear to be looking at the ball as it was hooked in midair, but he still managed to perform a sublime touch to throw it over his head before catching it.
Fans have been yearning for the club to sign more players this summer but have been impressed by their coach’s skill and have now joked that they may not need a new midfielder after all.
Arsenal fans have joked that Arteta should become a player-coach after his impressive skill.
One demanded: ‘That they put him in the center of the field’, while another claimed that he would be the best midfielder of the team if he was introduced in the first team.
And another said the club should consider making him a player-manager if the board cannot reinforce the center of the park.
Arsenal have announced three important signings for the upcoming 2020-21 season: Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares, both in permanent deals after spending last season on loan, and Willian in a free transfer from Chelsea.
The club is also close to securing a £ 27 million transfer for Lille’s Gabriel Magalhaes after both clubs held advanced talks.
