A 16-year-old girl was reportedly raped in a downtown apartment hotel in a morning attack.

Police received reports that the Merseyside teenager had been assaulted in an apartment in Building One in Temple Court, Liverpool.

The alleged incident was reported shortly before 4.30 am on Sunday.

Six men were arrested and taken to Merseyside police stations, where they will be interviewed by detectives.

Two of the men were arrested on suspicion of rape, the Liverpool Echo reports.

The other four men were arrested on suspicion of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent.

Witnesses reported seeing several young men being taken out of Uno’s building and placed in separate police vans this morning.

A photograph also showed a large police presence outside the hotel.

A police spokesman told the Liverpool Echo: “An investigation was launched and two men in their 20s, one from Congleton in Cheshire and one from Stoke-on-Trent, were arrested on suspicion of rape.”

“Four other men (three 18 and one 19), all from Stoke-on-Trent, have been arrested on suspicion of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without their consent.

“They have all been taken to Merseyside police stations, where they will be interviewed by detectives.

“The victim and her family are receiving specialized support and forensic examinations are ongoing at the scene.”
