Accrington: Men Arrested on Suspicion of Driving Drugs After Toddler “Fell Out of Car” and Was Hit by Another Vehicle | UK News

Two men were arrested after a young boy is believed to have fallen out of a car and was later hit by another vehicle.

The 20-month-old girl was found with head injuries after police believed she fell out of the back door of a yellow Toyota Prius on the highway.

She was then hit by a brown Peugeot after falling around 3pm Saturday at the Eastgate junction and the Eastgate Retail Park exit in Accrington, East Lancashire.

The girl remains in Manchester Children’s Hospital while doctors assess the severity of her injuries.

Two men ages 32 and 29, believed to be the driver and a passenger of the Toyota, have been arrested by police on suspicion of driving drugs.

They are now in custody, Lancashire police said.

The driver of the Peugeot, a woman in her 50s, has not been detained and was not injured.

Detectives have asked witnesses or anyone with information to contact them.

Detective Inspector Paul Langley said: “We are appealing for any witnesses who follow a traffic accent in Accrington.

“A 20-month-old girl is believed to have fell from inside a yellow Toyota Prius onto the road before being involved in a collision with another vehicle.

The girl is currently receiving medical treatment to establish the severity of the injuries.

“We would appeal for any witnesses who have seen what happened or who have footage of the incident on the dash cam. Also, if you saw the yellow Prius in the parking lot before the collision, please contact us.”
