Shocking mass fight caught on camera at Glasgow open air nightclub

A shocking mass fight was caught on camera at a popular Glasgow nightclub.

Punters fired punches and missiles at the Sanctuary beer garden on Dumbarton Road around 6.30pm last night.

Ignoring social distancing, an ice cube was thrown during the onslaught.


Others watched in horror as the fighting youths disrupted their holiday drinks on Saturday night.

A man is seen lifting a chair above his head before lowering it onto them.

The gorillas struggle to keep the gamblers fighting apart in the shocking video, yet the staff dispersed the group safely.

The venue has said they are “dismayed” by the “unacceptable” violence, adding that everyone involved is now excluded.

Police said they were not necessary, however officers are aware of the incident.

A statement from Sanctuary read: “Sanctuary staff and management are dismayed by the behavior of a small minority of patrons who have shown no consideration for the safety and well-being of those around them.

“We will work with the police to ensure that those responsible are taken care of properly and will be excluded from the scene. At any time this behavior is unacceptable, but never again in the face of the current situation.”

“The commissioners quickly intervened. The police were called in and the groups dispersed safely and separately.

“Sanctuary is committed to providing a covid safe environment through digital temperature controls and a distance of 2m in accordance with government guidelines.

“All track and trace data was collected. No one was injured and no one involved is prohibited. The safety of our customers is paramount.”

A Scottish Police spokeswoman: “A Scottish Police spokeswoman said:” We received a report informing us of a disturbance at a nightclub on Dumbarton Road, Glasgow, around 7.40pm on Saturday 29th August.

“The incident was reported to have occurred around 7 pm, it was believed that there were no injuries, the incident was not ongoing and the group had left.

“Due to the information provided by the reporter and other ongoing incidents, the presence of the police was not required.”
