Two other deaths from coronavirus recorded in Teesside hospitals as death rate declines

Two coronavirus-related hospital deaths in Teesside were confirmed as the death rate continues to decline.

The updated figures were released on Friday afternoon by NHS England.

A death was recorded at the South Tees NHS Foundation Trust, which runs James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough.

The total number of patient deaths under the care of that trust is now 215.

The other death was recorded at the North Tees and the Hartlepool NHS Trust, which runs North Tees University Hospital in Stockton, bringing the total there to 95.

The total death toll in our hospitals is now 310.

The Tees, Esk, and Wear Valley NHS Trust, which runs mental health hospitals in a large region that includes Teesside, has reported seven deaths to date.

In the rest of England, another 186 people, who tested positive for coronavirus, died, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths in hospitals in our country to 24,345.

The patients were between 15 and 99 years old.

Ten of the 186 patients (aged between 30 and 94 years) had no known underlying health conditions.

Their families have been informed.
