- An officer allegedly detained a couple carrying the bag near Dean’s forest.
A murder investigation continues today after a police officer found a human torso in a suitcase carrying a couple on the England-Wales border.
Since the creepy find in Gloucestershire, it is understood that other body parts have been found in and around the Forest of Dean.
Police closed a large area of the forest yesterday and two people were arrested and detained: a woman in her twenties from Birmingham and a man in his thirties from Wolverhampton.
They are believed to have been walking down a road near Coleford when a passing policeman suspected them and stopped to ask what was in the case.
Other body parts have also been found scattered nearby, as forensic tests are carried out.

Gloucestershire Police have not formally issued an update today, but a spokesperson said yesterday: “ Due to an ongoing police investigation, road closures and scene guards are in place on the A4136 between Monmouth and Coleford.
Shortly after eleven-thirty on Tuesday, May 12, officers discovered suspicious human remains.
The cords are likely to remain in place for the remainder of the day, while investigations continue to establish what has happened and further forensic tests are carried out on the remains.
“A Birmingham woman in her 20s and a Wolverhampton man in her 30s have been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the investigation and remain in police custody today.”
It is unclear where exactly the suspicious remains were found, but police closed a large area and three tents were erected at the entrance to Stowfield Quarry.
A resident said yesterday: ‘The tents were not there when I left this morning, but they had appeared when I returned. I don’t know what’s going on, but they say I can’t even walk on the road.
“Someone said they had found a body and the police say the road will be closed all day.”
Another resident who lives inside the cordon said: ‘I don’t know what is happening.

The discovery was made at the entrance to Stowfield Quarry and a large area remains cordoned off outside Coleford, Gloucestershire.

One resident said: ‘The tents were not there when I left this morning, but they had appeared when I returned. I don’t know what’s going on, but they say I can’t even walk on the road. ‘
‘I didn’t notice anything until I drove down the road and hit the road block. I asked if I could come in and they said yes, but I couldn’t go back in.
“One of the officers said the highway could be closed for a few days, so it must be serious.”
The quarry is on Staunton Road and the closed section also contains a fishery, a former sawmill that now contains storage units, several houses, and a campground.
The main A4136 from Cinderford to Monmouth was blocked at the bottom of the hill at Monmouth and there was another obstacle at the Coleford traffic light.
The stoplight obstacle stopped traffic from Monmouth and Staunton by turning right toward Coleford or past the fishery toward Berry Hill and beyond.
Both blocked sections of the highway would have caused chaos on a normal work day, and key workers had to find detours through the lanes.
