Good morning, Lorraine Kelly from Great Britain had some harsh words for Interior Minister Priti Patel in a wild live interview.
The host asked the MP how she deals with knowing that thousands of people died of coronavirus “under her watch.”
He also brought up the intimidation allegations his colleagues made at Home Sec.
Lorraine took no prisoners while asking Priti how she sleeps at night with all this fierce criticism directed at her.
The host asked, “I wonder how you are coping on a human level, because so many deaths are under your watch.
“People say it could reach 60,000, the prime minister was on the verge of death.
“You have received a lot of criticism, remember that when you took the Downing Street briefing, you received a lot of criticism for that.”
“You have been accused of intimidation, you have been accused of all kinds of things.”
“As a human being, how do you deal with it every day and get up and go and do your job and keep going?”
Priti replied: “Well, first of all Lorraine, I am a politician.
“My main priority is to serve my country and serve the Prime Minister who has put me in this role and do the best job I can.
“I cannot let that criticism affect me. We are in a national emergency and we all, collectively, are doing everything we can to stop the spread of this virus.”
He added: “I am here to serve, to deliver to the British public.”
Lorraine demanded action on the rapidly increasing incidents of domestic violence during the shutdown, and Priti said today she was announcing a new Hidden Damage Summit that will push forward an action plan that covers vulnerable people and victims of domestic abuse.
He added: “We have provided money: I announced £ 2 million about four weeks ago and half of that has already gone to the front line.
“The government announced another £ 76 million across the board to go out and get more shelter spaces, more equipment, especially for people working in domestic abuse.”
Lorraine also criticized the lack of evidence and quarantines for the many people who arrive in the UK every day on planes.
Priti argued that travel is 97% off and that those who arrive are here for business purposes or for returning expatriates.
