Temperatures about to drop as Met Office reveals the weather where you live over the next few days

[ad_1]

Temperatures are set to plunge this week as cold and wet weather moves south across the whole of the UK in what the Met Office has described as “a bit of a shock to the system”.

While southerly parts of Wales should still remain in double figures, the drop in temperature will be quite stark compared with recent days. north Wales is expected to feel the brunt of this cold snap as wind moves southward from Scotland.

Some areas across the UK are expected to see drops of up to 10 to 12 degrees compared to the tail end of last week.

While there will be some spots of rain throughout Sunday and Monday, the week will be largely dry.

May is already proving to be more changeable on the weather front than April, which was the third sunniest in Wales since records began in 1929 and saw rainfall well below average.

Met Office Meteorologist for the Met Office Alex Deakin said that the UK should be expecting it to be much colder on at the start of the week, with the East Coast experiencing “winterly showers” which could consist of hail and even sleet.

The Northerly winds which dominated the start of the week, bringing with it icy air, will slowly ease into southerly winds by the end of the week meaning warmer temperatures should return.

Met Office forecast for Wales this week:

Today:

It will be cloudy and much cooler in the north of Wales at first, with patchy rain. The far south is hanging onto the warmer air and sunny skies during the morning, though turning colder and cloudier later. It will be rather windy too. Maximum temperature 18 ° C.

Tonight:

Cloud will continue to clear through the evening to leave a dry night with long clear spells. Remaining rather windy and it will be cold enough for a patchy frost. Minimum temperature 2 ° C.

Monday:

Winds will gradually ease on Monday but it will continue to feel cold. It will be mostly dry with sunny spells, although the odd afternoon shower is possible. Maximum temperature 13 ° C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:
