Manchester United captain Harry Maguire hails Marcus Rashford as “the most talented player I have ever played with”

Harry Maguire has hailed Marcus Rashford as the best talent in English football, ahead of Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling.

The Manchester United captain has also appointed Rashford as a future club captain after being amazed at his quality since he moved to Old Trafford last summer.

Maguire claims the striker is the best player he has ever worked with, high praise considering the names he has lined up with for England such as Kane, Sterling and United’s target Jadon Sancho.

“I’ve always spoken so highly of Marcus when I was with him in England,” said the central defender.

“I can’t speak highly enough of him. I think he will have an exceptional career.

“I think he will continue, I don’t want to put too much pressure on him, to be a wonderful player for Manchester United, as he is now.”

Rashford has demonstrated his social conscience during the coronavirus pandemic, helping to raise £ 20 million to ensure that children who receive free school meals are fed, and Maguire believes that is an example of his leadership qualities.

“I think as a club, you should have a captain and trust him, but you must spread the responsibility for leadership in the group,” he told the United podcast.

“Marcus is there and he struggles in every game, he’s obviously failing with a serious injury right now, but he’s struggling to come back and he rarely misses the games.”

“He always wants to be available. I think you can see around the place and on and off the field as well, he’s excellent with his charity work, which is great to see.

“On the field, as I said, he has surprised me. He is the most talented player I have ever played with and I am sure he will be a wonderful player for this club.”
