Labor leader Sir Keir Starmer was stunned moments after Boris Johnson’s coronavirus speech on Sunday night. Sir Keir claimed that the British wanted the Prime Minister and the Government to clarify how the country would advance during the pandemic. While on the BBC, Sir Keir asked if Johnson knew he was asking millions of Britons to return to work in the next 12 hours.
Sir Keir said: “I think what the country really wanted tonight was clarity and a true sense of consensus, I don’t think we have succeeded.”
“I know there will be more details tomorrow, but there is a big gap for the government to make peace here.
“The basic message of staying alert is simply not clear enough.
“The statement by the prime ministers raises as many questions as answers.

Sir Keir also reflected on the confusion that Johnson’s message conveyed over whether the British should return to work or not.
During his speech, the Prime Minister encouraged those who were unable to work from home to return to work from next week.
Johnson also called for public transport to be avoided when possible for those returning to work.
Starmer addressed this point and argued that there were flaws in Johnson’s wishes.
“Last weekend there were guidelines on how you would operate safely on the job, they were in draft form.
“I don’t think they have been published and I don’t know when they will be published.”
“Realistically, I don’t know how people who depend on public transportation will be able to go to work tomorrow morning.”
“That is why I say that the prime minister’s speech raises as many questions as answers.”
