The holiday heat wave comes to an abrupt end today with falling temperatures and cloud forecasts.
As a cold front heads south, mercury will plummet between 10 and 12 ° C in some parts of the country.
On the east coast, temperatures will drop from 6 to 9 ° C, ending above-average temperatures that the British have enjoyed for much of the past few weeks.
The cold weather will come with gusting winds, which the BBC predicts could reach speeds of up to 40 to 45 mph in the east and along the English Channel.
The south west coast of England will see the warmer weather today, where mercury will hover around mid-teens, peaking at 17C in Plymouth and 15C in Brighton and Southampton.
