Police have seen a wave of incidents in recent days, as out-of-control games and violence have been reported across the region, with a demand for “ a lot ” of officer supply.
Mike Newton, a supervisor in the Devon and Cornwall Police Control Room, explained that the force handled more than 1,000 incidents yesterday, in 24 hours.
During the night he tweeted: “Demand has greatly exceeded supply.
“Fighting, out-of-control matches, and domestic violence are the main themes across the area of force.
“Currently with 1,011 jobs at 23:10.”
