A man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a horror motorcycle accident left two men in the hospital.
Emergency services were called to Waterpark Drive, in Stockbridge Village, around 2:30 p.m. Monday after an off-road bike collided with a black Vauxhall Astra.
Two 22-year-old men were rushed to Aintree Hospital with serious injuries after the accident when the driver of the car fled the scene.
Currently, one man continues to fight for his life while the other remains in serious condition.
Police launched a search for the driver and now confirmed that an arrest was made Tuesday for the accident.
A 27-year-old man from Huyton was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and taken into custody.
In a statement, a Merseyside police spokesperson said: “Officers arrested a 27-year-old man tonight (Tuesday, April 21) after a serious traffic collision on Waterpark Drive yesterday involving a scrambler bike and a Vauxhall. Black astra.
“The Huyton man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
“The two 22-year-old men who were seriously injured as a result of this collision, and believed to have been on the encoder bike, remain in the hospital.
“One is in a serious condition and the other is in a critical condition.”
Waterpark Drive was closed for several hours on Monday afternoon while police conducted their investigation at the scene.
Images taken at the scene show severe damage to a black car inside a police cordon. A broken windshield could also be seen.
The damaged scrambler bike was left lying on the ground near a crosswalk on the main road.
Shortly after the accident, a spokesperson for the Northwest Ambulance Service said the motorcyclists had suffered “serious traumatic injuries.”
In a statement, they added: “We were called today at 2:26 PM and RTC in this area.
“We sent an RRV, an advanced paramedic, two ambulance vehicles, and Helimed.
“We took two patients to the Aintree hospital by ground ambulance with serious traumatic injuries.
“The police were informed.”
