North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is seriously ill after undergoing heart surgery, it has been claimed. CNN reported that the condition of the 36-year-old leader is being monitored by US intelligence officials. USA, who was informed that Kim was “in serious danger” after cardiovascular surgery. Kim was absent from North Korea’s biggest annual holiday on April 15, sparking speculation about her well-being.

South Korea’s news website Daily NK said Monday night that Kim was “mostly recovered” from the procedure. The website obtained the story from a single anonymous informant based in North Korea, and was unable to obtain further details on Kim’s condition, Bloomberg reported.

Bruce Klingner, former deputy director of the CIA division for North Korea, said previous rumors about Kim’s ill health had turned out to be false and that the country’s extreme secrecy made it difficult to establish the facts. He told CNN: ‘There have been a number of recent rumors about Kim’s health (smoking, heart and brain). If Kim is hospitalized, it would explain why he was not present at the important celebrations on April 15. But, over the years, there have been a number of false health rumors about Kim Jong-un or her father. We’ll have to wait and see “.

The despotic leader was last seen publicly on April 11 at a government meeting. North Korea’s highly secretive government has yet to comment on Kim’s alleged illness, nor has it issued any kind of statement through its state-controlled media.

The nuclear-capable dictatorship has reported no cases of coronavirus, and has curtailed its frequent demonstrations of power in an attempt to stop the possible spread of Covid-19. Neither South Korea nor the United States has offered an official comment on Kim’s health.

Kim was previously reported to have smoked on a chain and has been photographed with a cigarette in his hand multiple times. He married his wife Ri Sol Ju in 2009, and the couple claimed to be the parents of one to three children.

The famous President Trump met Kim in Singapore in June 2018 to engage in peace talks, becoming the first American President to meet with a North Korean leader. The men met again the following year, and President Trump urged Kim to abandon his nuclear weapons program in exchange for financial aid to the impoverished nation of Kim. Kim held an innovative peace summit with South Korean leader Moon Jae-In in April 2018. That made him the first North Korean leader to set foot on South Korean soil since the 1953 Korean War.

Kim assumed the position of North Korean leader from his father Kim Jong Il after the death of Elder Kim in 2011. He is the grandson of Kim Il Sung, who founded North Korea in 1948 and led the rogue nation until his death in 1994. Kim Jong Un sparked speculation about his health after missing the annual April 15 celebration of Kim Il Sung’s birthday. Kim’s brutal leadership style has seen him accused of executing at least 10 of his own officials, including former Deputy Army Minister Kim Choi, who was allegedly executed for mortar bombing in 2012.

And in 2014, Deputy Security Minister O Sang Hon is said to have been executed by flamethrowers for showing his support for Kim’s uncle and political rival, Jang Song Thaek.
