Captain Tom Moore earned a number one single after his NHS fundraiser reached an incredible £ 26 million.
The 99-year-old charity collaboration with Michael Ball and The NHS Voices of Care Choir on the song You’ll Never Walk Alone topped the official Big Top 40 chart on Sunday.
The heroic war veteran of World War II, who turns 100 at the end of this month, introduces the song and says, “Keep your head up and don’t be afraid of the dark.”
It comes after he raised millions by walking through his garden at his home in Marston Moretaine, Bedfordshire.
His version of “Never Never Walk Alone”, originally recorded by Rodgers and Hammerstein in 1945, is also raising money for the NHS.
It simply shows Duet by Dame Vera Lynn and Katherine Jenkins from We Meet Meet Again, which entered the chart at number three.
Captain Tom’s daughter, Hannah Ingram-Moore, was overwhelmed when she heard the news.

She said to Will Manning on the show, “Can anything else happen to us? Do you think ?! We are working with our little socks as you can imagine, we are completely Team Tom!
“Thank you for supporting us all and thanks to the British public, we really appreciate it.”
Her 16-year-old grandson Benji also spoke about how she reacted to her new fame.

Benji said: “He is a true Yorkshireman as you are going to get, he takes everything easy.
“He won’t brag about it at all, he’s probably one of the humblest men he’s ever met in his life.
“But I think he quietly loves it.”
Captain Tom had promised to make 100 stretches of his garden to celebrate his 100th birthday later this month, which he did on live television on Thursday.
Initially he was aiming to raise just £ 1,000.
The money you have raised will go to NHS Charities Together, which will help buy food packages and counseling sessions for NHS staff.
